Marlene Adelstein is a professional book and screenplay editor with over twenty years' experience in publishing and film development. She was a feature film and television executive in New York City working for top Hollywood production companies: Wind Dancer Films, Fine Line Features, The Zanuck Company, and The Samuel Goldwyn Company. She was involved in the development of Driving Miss Daisy, Rush, Love! Valour! Compassion! and Mystic Pizza, among other films.

A few of the books Marlene worked on as a developmental editor include Nothing is Forgotten, Wherever There Is Light, and Comeback Love by Peter Golden (Atria); The Yoga Of Max’s Discontent by Karan Bajaj (Random House); Ghostbuster’s Daughter by Violet Stiel, (Blue Rider); and As I Knew Him: My Dad, Rod Serling by Anne Serling (Kensington Press).

 

As a patient, understanding and thoughtful editor, Marlene works closely with authors to help get their novel, memoir, or screenplay into its best shape possible. She offers thorough, constructive critiques, coaching, line editing, and advice on the material's commercial potential, as well as agent referrals when appropriate. She helps authors maneuver through the changing world of publishing.
