Nan Gatewood Satter specializes in fiction and narrative nonfiction. Her early career was spent at Doubleday, where she edited books across a wide spectrum of general interest nonfiction. Recent books edited include the NY Times bestseller Unfinished by Priyanka Chopra Jonas; Troop 6000: The Girl Scout Troop That Began in a Shelter and Inspired the World by Nikita Stewart; Strange Situation: A Mother’s Journey into the Science of Attachment by Bethany Saltman; Honey & Venom: Confessions of an Urban Beekeeper by Andrew Coté; Lions of the Sky by Paco Chierici; Be Safe, Love Mom: A Military Mom’s Stories of Courage, Comfort, and Surviving Life on the Homefront by Elaine Brye (co-author); Chosen By A Horse by Susan Richards (six months on the New York Times bestseller list) and its sequel Chosen Forever; That White Girl and Occupying Privilege by JLove Calderon; The Conditions of Love by Dale Kushner; and Mothering & Daughtering by Sil & Eliza Reynolds.
In addition to her work with authors, every summer Nan helps to prepare the next generation of editors and other publishing professionals as co-director of the Editing Workshop at the Denver Publishing Institute.
